Allerik Freeman Granted Release

2013 guard/wing Allerik Freeman has been granted his release from UCLA, following the departure of Ben Howland. Freeman was recruited quite heavily by the Musketeers the first go around, with Xavier and others eventually losing out to UCLA. Freeman is a 6’5″ combo guard who is dangerous with the ball in his hands. According to his scout profile, Minnesota, Xavier and Georgia Tech are the three main schools involved, with each school hoping to get a visit.

In looking at the Musketeer roster next year, there are two open scholarships with a big need on the wing. Freeman could add some versatility to the wing position, taking some pressure off of Justin Martin. With an addition of Freeman, Xavier would have 6 players that could interchangeably play at the same time at the 1,2, and 3 positions: Semaj, Myles, Dee, Randolph, Freeman, and Martin. In the Scout.com top 100 players for 2013, only two players remain uncommitted to a program: Andrew Wiggins and Allerik Freeman.
